Trading Recyclables for Rice
A new program in the Philippines combines 2 great causes: cleaning up the streets, and feeding the hungry. The village leaders in Bayanan will trade a kilogram of rice for every 2 kilograms of plastic waste. In August, people brought in 471 pounds of plastic, which was then recycled. They hope the program will expand everywhere!
