76 Kākāpō Chicks Hatch
The kākāpō, or owl parrot, is a large nocturnal, flightless, ground-dwelling bird, that lives in New Zealand. Only 147 adult parrots are alive today. They only breed every 2-4 years, when the rimu trees produce lots of fruit for the new babies to eat. The good news is, 76 new kākāpō chicks have hatched this season! Yay!
