Guide Dogs Lead the Way

Today is International Guide Dogs Day. Guide dogs are dogs that are trained to lead blind and visually impaired humans. They help people around obstacles. Dogs are color blind, and can’t read street signs, so they still need to be assisted by their human. Never pet or distract a guide dog. They’re working!

Moo-ve Along, Cows

In California, the Escondido Police responded to a call, about suspicious noises outside of a residence. Instead of finding an intruder trying to break in, they found 2 cows munching on plants. They called the Humane Society, to move the loose cows to a safe place, until the owners could be located.

Sprites Spotted Over Oklahoma

Last week, photographer Paul Smith took pictures of sprites in Oklahoma. No, not the mythological fairy-like creatures. Sprites are large electrical discharges in the sky. They look like pinkish-red columns, or jellyfish-shaped flashes of light, far above thunderstorms. You might spot a sprite if you watch a distant storm, and look above the clouds.

Imaginary Animal

On Sunday, there were stories of a pink-haired pony, spotted on an island in Montreal Canada. The mysterious little horse was reportedly hanging out on Ile Sainte-Helene. It turned out to be a hoax by a local television show. Everyone can stop looking for the imaginary pink pony!

What Are YOU Doing Here?

This week, some unusual animals have turned up in unexpected places. In California, a mountain lion was snoozing in someone’s back yard. In Illinois, a monkey was hanging around, inside an ambulance service garage. Outside, a donkey was wandering the highways of Chicago. All of the animals were moved to safety!
