Mighty Sub Goes Deep

More people have been to the moon, than to the deepest spot in the ocean. Only 3 people have made it to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, over 36,000 feet down. The submarine had to withstand 15,750 pounds per square-inch. It’s Submarine Day, and the tiny Deepsea Challenger submarine is the only one strong enough!

Cthulhu is Smaller Than Expected

Cthulhu, the cosmic entity created by writer HP Lovecraft, had a tentacled face, and lived in a sunken city in the Pacific Ocean. Paleontologists have discovered a fossilized relative of the sea cucumber, that looks like a smaller, less fearsome Cthulhu. It’s only 3 centimeters long! Still, with 45 armored tentacles, 430,000,000 year-old Sollasina cthulhu is impressive!
