Cardboard Stops Speeders

In Texas, sheriff Robert Chody has come up with an easy way to make drivers stop speeding. He’s paired cardboard cutouts of police officers with deputies. The life-sized photos are placed in school zones, and motorists slow down immediately, because they don’t want a speeding ticket! It helps keep school zones safe!

Give Pigeons a Hand

Pigeons are smarter than you might think. At the Staten Island ferry terminal in New York, pigeons have been seen sitting on the water fountain, just waiting for someone to give them a drink! Mariel Mitkowski recorded a video of Steven Pesantez happily holding the button, so a pigeon could quench its thirst!

Yoga Mats to the Rescue

A moose in Anchorage Alaska, got stranded in the snowy center of an ice skating track. The surrounding ice had been hot-mopped to make it smooth, and was too slippery for the moose to cross. Employees in a nearby building noticed her dilemma, and rescued her by making a bridge from yoga mats and carpets!

High-Wire Monkeys

It’s not unusual to look up at a telephone wire, and see a row of birds sitting on it. But in Mutsu City Japan, people were surprised to see 20 wild monkeys walking across an overhead wire! The Japanese macaques may have been escaping angry residents, who have to shoo the monkeys from their gardens.
