Lake Gets Civil Rights

5 years ago, Lake Erie was so polluted from chemical runoff, that Ohio residents were warned not to drink tap water. Last week, residents of Toledo Ohio, passed a law to help protect the lake from future chemical disasters, by granting it civil rights. The Great Lake will have the same rights as a person!

Pig Paints for Fun

A pig in South Africa, that was saved from a livestock farm, has become a famous artist. The Farm Sanctuary SA, where she lives, discovered that Pigcasso loves to paint! Her artworks have raised over $145,000 for the sanctuary, and animal rights awareness. Pigcasso signs her paintings with an imprint of her snout!

The day before Ash Wednesday, the start of a Christian period of fasting called Lent, is a good excuse for parties and overindulgence. Message in a Bottle

9 year-old Laura Terry finally collected results, from her school science project. 2 years ago, she stuck a message in a bottle, and a boat launched it from 40 miles off the coast of North Carolina. Her bottle was finally picked up by Bridie Patton, on Doohoma Beach in western Ireland! Further correspondence will be by e-mail!
