Stuck On Octopuses

This week, the New England Aquarium honored 84 year-old Wilson Menashi. He has volunteered over 8000 hours at the aquarium, mostly working with octopuses. The cephalopods needed entertainment, so he created toys and puzzles for them to solve. Wilson is a retired engineer, who has found a new calling in his friendship with the intelligent octopuses!

Cruise On Home

Kenneth Capron has an idea for using an old cruise ship docked in Maine. He got permission to work on Hope Harbor, a project that will provide temporary housing, social services, and job skills training on the ship. It can house up to 800 homeless people and others who need shelter.

The doctors on Scotland’s Shetland Islands, are recommending a new treatment to improve patients’ blood pressure, mental health, and happiness. The program is called Nature Prescriptions, and it’s designed to get people outside to enjoy nature. Relaxing outdoors has tremendous health benefits, so get out and explore under some rocks or crunch through leaves!
