This weekend, the Perseid meteor showers will hit their peak. Earth passes through the comet Swift/Tuttle’s tail, and bits of the comet burn up in Earth’s atmosphere, creating blazing meteors. Earth’s Northern Hemisphere could see 60 shooting stars per hour, late at night! Most Perseid meteors are tiny, weighing only as much as a paperclip.

Hulk Fly Through Sky

A glowing green comet, nicknamed the Incredible Hulk, may be visible in the sky tonight for those in the Northern Hemisphere. The cloud of dust surrounding the comet, is twice as big as Jupiter, and gets its color from cyanide and carbon molecules. The Southern Hemisphere will get to see it in mid-August.

These Dogs Rule the Waves

In Pacifica California, the World Dog Surfing Championships took place. Skyler the Surfdog took home the Shredder of the Year award, while Gidget, Giselle, Derby, Teddy, Abbie Girl, Beans, and Rusty were other top dogs in their categories. There were also Top Ball-Fetch-in-Water, and Dog Beach Fashion competitions. What a fun day for dogs!
