PTScientists, Vodaphone, Audi and Nokia are all working on the Mission to the Moon project, which will launch on a SpaceX rocket in 2019. I hope they call me!

Australian George Corones may have won because he was racing alone, but the 99 year-old swam the 50 meter freestyle in 56 seconds, smashing the record for his age group. He turns 100 in April, so he got to compete in the 100-104 age bracket. George took up swimming for exercise when he turned 80.

Tardigrades are amazing microscopic creatures. Also called water bears or moss piglets, they can survive in the cold vacuum of space, in volcanoes and in deep underwater trenches. They can withstand radiation blasts or live for decades without food or water. The newest tardigrade species was found on moss in a Japanese parking lot!

A supermarket in the Netherlands just made it easier to cut out plastic. The Ekoplaza store in Amsterdam has one aisle with more than 700 items in plastic-free packaging. When you buy food packed in metal, glass, or paper, you help the Earth by recycling it. Try to reduce your plastic use!

The world’s tallest topiary sculpture was assembled in Dubai this week. The Dubai Miracle Garden collaborated with the Walt Disney Company to build a 59-foot tall Mickey Mouse out of flowers and greenery. The sculpture weighs 35 tons and is covered in petunias, violas, zinnias, geraniums, and alternantheras. I bet it smells beautiful!

The most toxic spider in the world is the Australian funnel web spider. Its venom can kill a human in 15 minutes, and about 3 dozen people a year are bitten. A giant one named Colossus was just given to the Australian Reptile Park. Its venom will be milked to create anti-venom and save more lives!
