Wing Bowl is an annual eating contest held in Philadelphia Pennsylvania the Friday before the Super Bowl. This year’s winner, Molly Schuyler, ate an unbelievable 501 Buffalo wings in 30 minutes. She can also eat a 72 ounce steak in 3 minutes and a 5 pound pizza with ghost pepper sauce. The 127 pound competitive eater is hard to beat!

Fossils from the Late Cretaceous period 100 to 66 million years ago are rarely found in Egypt. But a big one was just uncovered in the Sahara Desert! Mansourasaurus was a plant-eating sauropod with a long tail, long neck, and bony plates embedded in its skin. It is part of the Titanosauria group of sauropods.

Researchers studying the Centaurus A galaxy found that dwarf galaxies are orbiting it on a plane instead of hanging around it like bees around a hive. The Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies are also orbited by dwarf galaxies on a plane, but it was believed they were unusual exceptions. Apparently not!

A killer whale at Marineland Aquarium in Antibes France has learned a new trick. The 14 year-old orca can mimic sounds made by other whales and humans! Wikie can say words like “hello,” “bye bye” and “one two three.” She can also say her trainer Amy’s name and make fart noises through her blowhole!

Rob McLeod and his dog Davy Whippet broke the record for length of time a flying disc is in the air before a dog catches it: 10.59 seconds! Then Connor Lawrence and Shayne Pheifer broke the behind-the-back frisbee catches in one minute record: 34 catches! It was a big week for frisbee world records!

It’s Groundhog Day! The official weather-predicting groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, emerged from his burrow and saw his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of winter. But Martinsburg Maxwell, a groundhog with a degree in meteorology, said, “Phil’s only right 20% of the time; it’s impossible to accurately predict weather that way!”

Cave-dwelling crocodiles could be evolving into a new species. The dwarf crocodiles living in caves in Gabon have developed a specialized diet of bats and crickets. They’ve adapted to living in bat-guano filled water which turns their skin orange. Their DNA shows a unique haplotype, meaning they could deserve their own species distinction!
