A killer whale at Marineland Aquarium in Antibes France has learned a new trick. The 14 year-old orca can mimic sounds made by other whales and humans! Wikie can say words like “hello,” “bye bye” and “one two three.” She can also say her trainer Amy’s name and make fart noises through her blowhole!

Groundhog Predictions

It’s Groundhog Day! The official weather-predicting groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, emerged from his burrow and saw his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of winter. But Martinsburg Maxwell, a groundhog with a degree in meteorology, said, “Phil’s only right 20% of the time; it’s impossible to accurately predict weather that way!”

Shark With an Attitude

A tiger shark in a South Korean aquarium might have anger issues. When a banded hound shark bumped into her, she ate him. Aquarium officials said, “Sharks have their own territories. Sometimes when they bump into each other, they bite out of astonishment.” I think the tiger shark overreacted a little!

It’ssss SSSSSSerpent Day

Today is National Serpent Day, which celebratessss snakessss. There are more than 3000 species of snakes, of which only 1/8th are venomous. The longest species, the reticulated python, can grow to over 30 feet. The tiny Barbados threadsnake is like a 4-inch long spaghetti noodle. Snakes smell the air with their tongue. Can you do that?
