Last night was the beginning of Passover, celebrated this week by Jews. The Feast of Unleavened Bread commemorates when the Israelites were freed from slavery, more than 3000 years ago. In preparation for Easter, Christians are celebrating Palm Sunday today, commemorating Jesus’s return to Jerusalem.

If you don’t have the board game, you can always get the app on a phone or tablet, and play online. Scrabble’s good for your brain!
It’s time to celebrate Take Your Parents To The Playground Day. Gather some snacks from the kitchen, and a ball or frisbee, then surprise them with your plans for a picnic at the park! Be sure to push them on the swings, and catch them when they come down the slide, haha!
Did you know, it’s Record Store Day? Vinyl records lost popularity as cassettes & CDs took over, but they’re starting to make a comeback. In fact, there are lots of companies, that will press your own custom record. Immortalize your talents on vinyl, and maybe someone will buy it someday in a record store.
On April 12th 1934, the strongest gust of wind ever recorded, blew through the Mount Washington Observatory. The blast clocked in at 231 miles-per-hour, and the record is remembered every year on Big Wind Day. The record was broken in 1996, when a typhoon near Australia, created 256 mile-per-hour gusts of wind.
Today is Hamster Day, dedicated to the adorable little rodents. They can store a whole meal, in pouches inside their cheeks! Some lucky pet hamsters, get to live in Habitrail cages with plastic tubes to explore. It’s also Walk On Your Wild Side Day, so be a little crazy, and stuff your cheeks!
Today is Licorice Day. Its distinctive flavor comes from the licorice plant, and can be used in candy or tea. It’s also Deskfast Day, when you eat your breakfast at your desk. Don’t get food on your work! Since it’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day as well, you could eat one for Deskfast!
Have you ever made a flip-book? When you draw a slightly different picture on each page, then flip the pages rapidly, the picture appears to move. 17-year-old Max Budgen, recently created the world’s longest hand-drawn flip-book. His 1300-page story, called Thunder Strikes, is full of animated stick-figure action.
Bears at the Alaska Zoo, were given a fun challenge, testing out bear-resistant trash cans. The Anchorage sanitation department wanted to see how bear-proof their new trash bins were, by giving them to the experts. Unfortunately, the bears entirely destroyed some of the trash cans. There’s apparently no such thing as bear-proof.
A New Jersey group called Clean Ocean Action, organizes beach clean-up events. Last year, they removed 276,899 pieces of trash. Along with the usual plastic bottles and caps, straws, cans, and cigarette filters, they also found a rubber foot, vampire teeth, a bathroom sink, a punching bag, and a gallon of maple syrup.
