Your Thanksgiving might still be a little different this year. Gathering for an indoor feast, with unvaccinated people who don’t live with you, is dangerous because of COVID-19. Instead, call people on the phone. Eating outside, spaced far apart, could also be a way to gather, but only give air hugs!

Today in the United States, it’s Thanksgiving Day. In 1621, in Plymouth Massachusetts, English colonists and the Wampanoag people, who had helped the colonists survive the winter, celebrated with a harvest feast that lasted several days. The Native Americans had taught them to grow corn, squash and beans. Maybe you’ll eat some today. Happy Thanksgiving!

When Jed Mottley was a high school senior in 1994, he ordered a letterman jacket. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the money to pay for it when it came in. Nearly 28 years later, his brother found the Chaparral Class of 94 letter jacket, embroidered with the name “Jed,” at a thrift store!

When a volcano erupted in the Canary Islands last September, the volcanic ash buried a bunch of beehives. 50 days later, 5 hives were uncovered, with the bees inside still alive and well! The bees had sealed the holes with propolis, a resinous material, and survived off their their winter stores of honey.

The largest organism in the world, isn’t a whale, or a redwood tree. It’s a 106-acre stand, of quaking aspen trees. The group of trees is called Pando, and they all grow from the same root system. The forest is made of 47,000 genetically identical stems. It’s been producing new sprouts, for 14,000 years!

Today is Tie One On Day. Pick your favorite apron, and tie it on to protect your clothes, while you cook a big feast. Aprons are also handy as emergency oven mitts, towels, or an extra pocket. It’s also Jukebox Day. Some restaurants still have jukeboxes, so you can listen to your favorite songs!

Today is Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day. Have a talent show with your family and friends. No matter what your talent is, whether it’s playing an instrument or sport or video game, having loud burps or smelly farts, or making really tall piles of whipped cream from a can, be proud of your abilities!

In the last 5 years, David Rush has broken over 200 Guinness world records, but his latest record, took 4 years to perfect. The Idaho man juggled 3 balls, while running a 100-meter dash, blindfolded. After 22 attempts, he completed a qualifying run, in 16.29 seconds. The hardest part, was staying in his lane!

A man in Australia got a ticket, for driving without a license. The police also confiscated his vehicle. The driver may have a good argument though, because you can’t get licensed to drive a cooler. His motorized cooler had wheels, an engine, and handlebars. It’d be perfect for grocery shopping!

Amarildo Silva Filho, is a Brazilian artist, environmentalist, and animal lover. He combined his 3 passions, by making 6000 beds for stray cats and dogs. Amarildo recycles old tires, by painting them, and sewing colorful mattresses inside. He donates most of the personalized beds to animal shelters, while selling enough to pay for materials.
