Today is Butter Day. It’s easy to make your own butter. Fill a glass jar halfway, with heavy cream. Put the lid on, then start shaking! The cream will start to get thick, and turn into whipped cream. Take a taste, then keep shaking. It will harden into butter, with a little bonus buttermilk!

Today is Homemade Bread Day. Find an easy recipe and start baking! While you wait for the dough to rise, you can go for a walk outside, because it’s also Take A Hike Day. If you have any energy left, try making baklava, a flaky pastry filled with nuts and honey, for Baklava Day!

Yesterday, Russia tested a missile, by blowing up one of its own satellites in space. Unfortunately, this created thousands of small pieces, that will orbit the Earth for years to come. Crew at the International Space Station had to temporarily take cover, in case any debris struck the station, but they’re all safe now.

Paleontologists often take years to identify a new dinosaur, because they rarely find an entire skeleton. Sometimes a bone is misidentified, or fragments that are found later, give a clearer picture. That’s the case with Supersaurus, the longest dinosaur ever. New evidence shows the Jurassic period diplodocid, could have reached 137 feet long!

Today is Clarinet Day. They’re a popular first instrument, when kids join the school band, partly because the case is easy to carry! Clarinets are part of the woodwind family of instruments, because you blow past a wooden reed. Listen to some early jazz clarinetists, like Sidney Bechet, Benny Goodman, or Woody Herman.

Today is the International Day of Tolerance, first declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1995. Tolerance is the ability to endure something that you don’t always like or agree with. As long as no one’s getting hurt, you can show tolerance with your little brother, your parents’ rules, or spinach!

Today is Button Day! Zippers are quicker and Velcro is easy, but buttons can be beautiful or whimsical, and they’re definitely quieter. It’s also Fast Food Day, so get your meal at a drive-thru restaurant. Then, find your teddy bears, because it’s Have A Party With Your Bear Day! Don’t forget the honey.

British mom Heather Hann, raced to a new world record. She finished a 10k race in 40 minutes 4 seconds, while pushing her 1-year-old son in a stroller. She started running with a stroller after her first child was born, and now has 2 kids. I wonder if she’ll try next, with a double-stroller.

Students at a Dutch university, built a solar-powered mobile home, then put it to the test. They took a 1800-mile road trip! Their van, called Stella Vita, has a shower, toilet, kitchen, fridge, and bed. It can also travel 450 miles-per-day, all completely powered by the sun! It’s a tiny traveling home for 2.

Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, made a welcome announcement at the COP26 climate summit in Scotland. 15,000,000 acres surrounding the Galapagos Islands, will have even more protections. An underwater swimway from Galapagos to Costa Rica, will also be protected. The new marine sanctuary will keep industrial fishing, from destroying this incredible area.
