Today is Cappuccino Day, a delicious version of coffee made with espresso and foamy steamed milk. Speaking of steam, it’s also National STEAM Day, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The day was created to inspire kids to explore those subjects, for possible careers in the future.

Melanie Porter was sitting on her front porch in British Columbia one night, when she spotted a bear. She decided to freeze, and hope it would go away. Instead, the black bear came up to her, sniffed her, and licked her hand. Then the bear just walked away. I guess Melanie wasn’t very tasty.

In Barcelona Spain, an unusual bus is picking kids up for school. The Bicibus is a caravan, made of individual bikers. 5 families started riding in a group, to stay safer on the busy streets. Now, the Bike Bus makes 3 stops, to add whole neighborhoods of kids on bikes, scooters, and roller blades.

When you get an assignment, that’s not due for 2 months, do you work on it a little every day, or leave it all until the last week? A study in New Zealand, gave people different deadlines to fill out a survey. Interestingly, the most people responded, when there was no deadline at all!

In many parts of the world, you got an extra hour to sleep in this morning. That’s because the clocks were set back one hour, since Daylight Saving Time ended. Not all countries use Daylight Saving, and some use different dates, so it can be confusing! Just remember: spring forward, fall back!

Gather all your teddy bears, and start hugging. It’s Hug A Bear Day! Although wild bears also look cute and fuzzy, it’s best to leave them alone! It’s also Bittersweet Chocolate With Almonds Day. It’s not the most common candy bar, so today would be a good day to make your own delicious treat!

Although people also call them buffalo, the scientific name is Bison bison. Buffalo species, like the cape buffalo and water buffalo, are beardless, and don’t have the giant shoulder hump.
