Last month, archaeologists discovered a new chamber, in the Vanguard Cave in Gibraltar. The team had been studying Neanderthal artifacts in the cave system. The chamber was sealed with sand that was 40,000 years old, so anything within, was likely left by our closest extinct relatives, the Neanderthals. I wonder what they left behind.

You may have watched the animated TV series, Thunderbirds Are Go, in recent years. But have you ever watched the original Thunderbirds, from 19 65? The British TV series was made using Supermarionation, with life-like puppets. Today is Thunderbirds Day, so look up the original episodes, and watch the International Rescue Team at work!

Get your jaws ready, to celebrate Chewing Gum Day! People have been chewing gum for more than 5000 years. They started by chewing blobs of wax, tree sap, or bark tar. It didn’t taste good, and they couldn’t blow bubbles with it, but it satisfied the need to gnaw on something!

Macho the dog can’t hold a baseball bat, but he’s great at circling all the bases. The Jack Russell terrier broke the world record, for fastest time for a dog to run the bases at a Major League Baseball stadium. Macho slid into home plate at Dodger stadium, after only 21.06 seconds

The Great Red Spot on Jupiter, is actually a massive swirling storm. Although the storm has grown a bit smaller over the years, the wind speed around the edges is increasing. The Great Red Spot is bigger than the entire Earth, and has been active ever since humans could see Jupiter.

Could something as simple as a cold shower, help keep you healthier? A scientific study showed, that ending your shower with a 30-second blast of cold water, may have health benefits. People appeared to have stronger immune systems, improved circulation, increased metabolism, and decreased depression. If someone uses all the hot water, thank them!

The city of Rome, in Italy, has been invaded by wild boars. At lest 5000 of the hairy pigs, which can grow to be 5 feet long and weigh 220 pounds, are living in the city’s parks. Hundreds of boars often leave the parks, to wander the streets, and rummage through garbage for food.

It’s Coffee Day! Even if they don’t like the taste of it, most people love the smell of fresh coffee. Enjoy it with a sweet, double-baked biscuit, as it’s also Biscotti Day. The long shape makes it the perfect cookie, to dunk in coffee.

In anticipation of the upcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, race organizers assembled the world’s largest Lego Formula 1 racecar. The green Formula 1 model, built using 500,000 Lego bricks, is on display at Jeddah’s Red Sea Mall. The previous world record was held by Ferrari, whose Formula 1 car only used 350,000 bricks.
