The charity group Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels, wants squirrel spotters to report how many red or gray squirrels are around. Red squirrels are native to Scotland, while gray squirrels were introduced during the Victorian age. Report your squirrel sightings at scottishsquirrels.org.uk.

Prehistoric Art Class

Have you ever made artwork out of your hand or footprints? Kids have been making handprint art, for thousands of years. A research team found prints from 2 children in Tibet, that were made at least 169,000 years ago. The ice-age kids didn’t think their prehistoric graffiti, would last forever!

Helping The Earth Stay Green

Today is Greenpeace Day. The organization was started in 1971, when activists tried to stop nuclear testing off the shores of Alaska. Ever since, the group has been fighting to save the Arctic, whales, and the environment. They’ve raised awareness about the damage being done to the Earth, but it’s everyone’s job to protect it!

Can Cows Be Toilet-Trained?

When cows pee outdoors, the nitrogen in their urine turns into nitrates that contaminate water, and nitrous oxide that damages the atmosphere. Inside, the pee mixes with poop on the barn floor, and also produces toxic ammonia. Researchers are trying to toilet train cows, so their urine is captured and can’t harm the environment.
