13 elephants living in the United Kingdom, will soon be living free in Africa. Howlett’s Wild Animal Park in Kent, has a Back to the Wild program, that breeds endangered animals, then releases them into their native habitat. The herd of elephants will be flown to Kenya on a 7-4-7-Dumbo jet.

The Walls Taste Like Carrots

If you don’t eat your broccoli, could you make bricks with it? Maybe! Researchers in Tokyo Japan, created a new way to turn discarded fruits and vegetables, into construction materials. They vacuum-dried food scraps, ground them into powder, mixed it with water, and heat-pressed the mixture into molds. The results were strong and edible.

More Trees Please

A new study shows that converting agricultural land into forests, could boost summertime rainfall by more than 7% in Europe. Climate change is causing increasingly dry summers, and higher temperatures. The tricky part is, winter rainfall would be more intense, but more trees capturing carbon from the atmosphere is always a good thing.

David Rush has broken over 150 world records. He had previously set a record, for the longest time balancing an object on his head, but someone broke it. He recaptured the record, by balancing a garden hoe on his forehead, for 2 hours, 36 minutes, and 6 seconds. It left a big dent in his head!

Fire and Mud

A huge tower of flame burned hundreds of feet above the Caspian Sea on Sunday, after an explosion in Azerbaijan. The blast was caused by a mud volcano, in the country’s oil and gas fields. Mud volcanoes erupt watery mud instead of lava, and contain gases that can ignite when flying rocks create sparks.

Life on Saturn’s Moon?

One of Saturn’s moons, called Enceladus, is spewing out plumes of methane. Enceladus is covered in a thick shell of ice, with a swirling ocean underneath. Scientists think the methane could be coming from vents in the ocean floor. The hydrothermal vents might even be home to microorganisms. They’ll need to gather more data.
