A police academy in China is looking for homes, for 54 dogs who flunked out of training. Most are German or Dutch shepherds, or Belgian malinois. The dogs failed for reasons such as refusing to bite on command, being too friendly or gentle, or not following directions. They sound like the best doggies.

Could getting cavities filled, be a thing of the past? Scientists invented a treatment using peptides, a form of protein. The peptide solution helps form new minerals inside a tooth cavity, repairing the layer of enamel. Deep cavities would probably still require fillings, so be sure to keep up your brushing and flossing!

Scientists have developed a tiny robot that scurries like a cockroach. It also can’t be squashed. The insect-sized bot can move 20 body lengths-per-second, carry items 6 times heavier than itself, and withstand the stress of 1,000,000 times its weight. The robots could search disaster areas for signs of life, or find gas leaks in tight spaces.

Our Sun’s magnetic field flips every 11 years, causing cycles of higher activity. The last flip happened in 20 19, so the Sun will experience increasing solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and sunspots, until 20 25. On July 3rd, a powerful X-class solar flare blasted out, which caused a shortwave radio blackout. Stronger flares can knock out power grids.

Today is Umbrella Cover Day. Yes, it’s weird. No, I don’t know why someone would make a day celebrating umbrella covers. Maybe you’d like to celebrate International Kissing Day instead? Words With Friends, is an online multiplayer game similar to Scrabble. To celebrate the Scripps National Spelling Bee finals, coming up on July 8th, Words With Friends is using winning words from the 2019 finals, as Words Of The Day. The contest that year, ended up in an 8-way tie. Good luck all you spellers.

Residents in a town in Wisconsin, have a good sense of humor. The village of Plover’s water tower was getting a new paint job, and the painters accidentally mixed up the V and the O. The community enjoyed the mistake, and wanted to leave the typo, but the Village Administrator had it quickly fixed.

What do you do, when it’s Apple Turnover Day, and Graham Cracker Day? Place your little pie between 2 graham crackers, and make a sandwich! Reverend Sylvester Graham developed the cracker in the 18 20s, as a health food that relieved ailments.
