Largest Rubik’s Cube Ever

A shopping mall in Hong Kong, wanted a big attraction, so they had a giant puzzle cube built. The world’s biggest working Rubik’s cube, is over 8 feet long on each side! It takes 4 people to rotate a line, so you’ll have 3 other people to blame if you can’t solve the puzzle.

Listen to the Sounds of Space

Scientists can measure the electromagnetic and gravitational waves, from different objects in space. An album called Celestial Incantations, turns those waves into sounds. You can hear the chirp of a ripple in spacetime from 2 black holes colliding, the oscillations of a comet, and the atmosphere on Mars. It’s out of this world music!

Dogs and Catfish

Woof woof! Bark-bark, growl. Oops, it’s Take Your Dog To Work Day, and I guess my dog thought he was supposed to do my work! Such a good doggie! It’s also Catfish Day. Many catfish are nocturnal, meaning active at night. Most have barbels that look like whiskers, and none of them have scales!

Christmas Parfait?

It’s Leon Day! That’s Noel, spelled backwards, because Christmas is exactly 6 months away. Some people who make their own Christmas ornaments or gifts, get started on them now. I’d rather celebrate Strawberry Parfait Day, with a creamy, strawberry-ee, delicious layered dessert! Serve it in a glass, so it looks as good as it tastes!

Colorful Beatles

Imagine life in 1964. The rock and roll band named the Beatles had become an international sensation. And if you were watching them on television, it would probably have been in black and white! It wasn’t until 1965 that color TV became widely available. Celebrate Color TV Day and Global Beatles Day today!

Now Accepting Monopoly Money

Ralph’s Tavern in Worcester Massachusetts, wants to be included on the local version of a Monopoly game. To show their dedication, they accepted Monopoly money as payment for 2 hours on Wednesday! The play money bought many hot dogs, non-alcoholic drinks, and raffle tickets. Hopefully, it also secured Ralph’s spot, on the Monopoly board!

Surprise, We’re Not Extinct After All!

A plant called the small-flowered tongue orchid, was thought to be extinct in Britain. It’s normally found in the Mediterranean, but hasn’t been found in the UK for more than 10 years. But recently, an orchid colony was discovered growing in a rooftop garden in London! Tiny seeds may have been carried by the wind!

Are Aliens Studying Earth?

Have you ever wondered, if there’s life on other planets? To them, Earthlings would be the aliens. Astronomers identified over 2000 star systems, that would be in the right position, to detect signs of life on Earth. We can study planet size and atmosphere, when a planet briefly blocks the light, while orbiting its star.

Creative Handshakes

Today is Handshake Day. The pandemic has made shaking hands a no-no, but make up a secret touch-free handshake to use with your friends. Practice a nice firm handshake, to use with vaccinated people. Shake your hands in the air to dry them, after sticking them in a milkshake!

This Fort is for Fairies Only

Today is Fairy Day! You might think fairies are cute little creatures, but in Ireland, you don’t mess with the fairy folk. If you see a rock or a ring of trees and bushes in the middle of a field, leave it alone. It’s a fairy fort, and you don’t dare anger the fairies!
