Amazing Works of CarDboard

Artist Monami Ohno, is a sculptor who uses a very common material. She creates amazing works of art, out of cardboard. She’s made everything from detailed cars and functioning shoes, to Godzilla and the Millennium Falcon. Her only supplies are a box cutter, ruler, glue, scissors, masking tape, and cardboard boxes.

Whale of a Tale

Michael Packard is a Massachusetts lobsterman, with quite a tale to tell. While diving and looking for lobsters, he got swallowed by a humpback whale! The whale squeezed him in its mouth, shook its head back and forth, than spit him back out. Luckily for Michael, i guess he didn’t taste very good.

Today is Red Rose Day, and Loving Day. Although red roses are a symbol of love, Loving Day is about overturning a racist law. In 19 58, interracial marriage was illegal in many states. Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving went to the Supreme Court, to fight for mixed-race marriages to be legal everywhere.

Helping Humpback Whales

The United States announced that it’s officially protecting over 116,000 square nautical miles, of the Pacific Ocean. The areas are habitat for 3 populations, of endangered humpback whales. The rule will help protect migrating whales from speeding ships, oil spills, and fishing nets, along the Pacific Coast, Bering Sea, and Gulf of Alaska.
