An antique hunter in Hawaii, found an old yearbook from 19 50, in a collection of items he purchased. He discovered a diploma taped to the inside cover, and decided to try and locate the owner. 89-year-old June Landgraf, was shocked to have her old yearbook returned to her! She’s happy to relive those old memories.

Dishwasher Actually Washes Dishes

Put down those dirty dishes! If you have a dishwasher, there’s no need to pre-wash them by hand. Pre-washing dishes could be wasting 6000 gallons of water per year in your household, as well as 10 days of time. Modern dishwashers will clean them. Really. Just scrape off the food scraps!

Today is Scavenger Hunt Day. Here’s a list of things to find: an ant, 2 spoons, a dried-up leaf, a purple flower, a black sock, 3 pennies, a nail, a stick, mustard or ketchup, a blade of grass, a toy plane, and a paintbrush. Who will be first to find everything? What will the prize be?

Coin Marks the Spot

Archaeologists in Maryland, were searching for the location of Saint Mary’s fort, one of the earliest English settlements in North America. They discovered a helpful clue, which was a nearly 400-year-old coin. The silver coin bearing an image of King Charles the First, was found right where they’re now excavating the fort.

Work From Paradise

The island of Madeira, is welcoming a special kind of traveler. People who can work from home on their computers, can work from anyplace with a good internet connection. Madeira created a Digital Nomad Village, with fast internet and free office space, for people who want to travel to a beautiful place to work.

Teenagers in the Trees

Much of the United States, is seeing the emergence of cicadas. A trillion Brood 10 cicadas spent the last 17 years underground as nymphs. They are crawling out, shedding their skins, and singing loudly to find a mate, starting the next 17-year cycle. Cicadas are large, harmless and amazing, so don’t freak out!

A World of Turtles

Today is World Turtle Day. Have you ever spotted a turtle trying to cross a road? You can help him across, but make sure to follow the direction he was headed! Always leave turtles in the wild. A box turtle’s lifespan is around 40 years, but some tortoises can live more than 100 years!
