A moose in Ontario didn’t know, the pools aren’t open yet. She jumped over a fence, and into someone’s backyard pool. The water, which was full of debris, had to be pumped out. Then the moose was tranquilized, and 10 people lifted her out. She’ll be released back to the wild after recovering.

Have you ever tried to carve a pencil? M Manoj, a professor in India, carved an incredible chain of 212 links, out of 2 graphite pencils. He made a crack in one link, to connect them. He now holds the world record for most chain links carved from a pencil, but it’s impossible to write with.

Where would we be without bees? We’d have no honey, flowers, fruits or vegetables. Farmers depend on honey bees to pollinate crops. There are over 20,000 different species of bees, from the tiny sweat bee, to the fuzzy bumble bee, to the huge carpenter bee, chewing holes in your fence. Happy World Bee Day!

Australian scientists believe seaweed will be the crop of the future. Kelp and other kinds of seaweed, can absorb carbon from the atmosphere, to help slow climate change. Seaweed is also used for food, fuel, biodegradable plastics, and construction materials. Plus, seaweed grows quickly and easily. Kelp can grow up to 2 feet per day!

There are around 7.8 billion people on the planet, but how many birds do you think there are on Earth? Researchers used data from citizen scientists, reporting their bird sightings on the eBird app, to estimate the world’s wild bird population, at approximately 50,000,000,000. By reporting the birds you see, you could help their future research.
