In the United States, all adults could already get vaccinated, to protect themselves against COVID-19. Now, children 12 and older are also approved, to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Once people are vaccinated, they can pretty much go back to normal. Does anyone even remember, what that was like? Thanks scientists, for developing vaccines for us.

Have you ever baked a pie from scratch? It’s easier than you think. Today is Apple Pie Day, so make a pie to celebrate! It’s also Fruit Cocktail Day, Crouton Day, and International Hummus Day, so chop some fruit, toast some bread, and grind some chick peas. That will make an interesting dinner!

Today is the day your pet frog dreams about. It’s Frog Jumping Day! Can your frog beat the world record? Rosie the Ribbet-er jumped over 21 feet! It’s also Leprechaun Day. While both leprechauns and frogs, are small, green, and hard to catch, only one will lead you to a pot of gold!

Hundreds of tiny turtles, were rescued from underground storm drains in New Jersey. Volunteers used an aquarium net attached to a bamboo pole, to scoop up 826 diamondback terrapin hatchlings, that had slipped through the cracks. Staff at Stockton University will take care of them for a year, before releasing them back into the wild.

The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft which has been visiting the asteroid Bennu, is on its way back to Earth. During its mission, it collected samples of space dust, from the asteroid’s surface. OSIRIS-REx will circle the Sun twice, before getting close enough to Earth to release a capsule with the samples inside, in September 2023.

The United States has a new national chess master, and he’s only 10 years old. Tanitoluwa Adewumi started playing chess in a homeless shelter 3 years ago, after his family fled religious persecution in Nigeria. He practices chess 10 hours-a-day after school, hoping to become the world’s youngest grandmaster. Tani believes, you never lose, you only learn.

For Odometer Day, look at your car’s odometer. The numbers tell you how many miles the car has traveled. On older cars, you could watch the numbers turn as the car moved, but now most odometers are digital. How close is your family car, to a notable number like 33,333, 45,678, or 200,000? It’ll only happen once!

There once was a young boy from France, who ripped a big hole in his pants. He sewed up the hole, with help from a mole, and then they played tag with some ants. It’s Limerick Day! That’s the kind of poem I just made up. Can you write one too?
