Massive Mango Meal

2 farmers in Colombia, hold the new world record for the heaviest mango. The enormous fruit weighed in at 9.36 pounds, which is 20 times bigger than the average mango! After taking a mold of the record-breaking fruit, so that they could make a copy of it, they shared a mango feast with their family.

First One in the Pool

A couple in Las Vegas wanted a pool in their backyard, but they received an archaeological treasure instead. When workers were digging the hole, they found 14,000-year-old bones. The fossils probably belonged to a horse or other large Ice Age animal. After the skeleton is excavated, they’ll continue building the pool.

Around 3 AM Sunday morning, the Crew Dragon spaceship Resilience, returned its 4-passenger crew back to Earth, after 6 months on the International Space Station. The capsule landed in the Gulf of Mexico, carried by 4 parachutes, in the first night-time splashdown in over 50 years. The mission commander joked that the astronauts had earned 68,000,000 frequent flyer miles.

Trapping Plastics

Microplastics are tiny particles of plastic that end up in everything, including the water you drink. Scientists are exploring ways to trap the microscopic trash, using a sticky bacterial biofilm, created by micro-organisms. The biofilm collects microplastics until it sinks to the bottom of a bioreactor, where the plastic can be easily recovered.
