Add Another Hadrosaur

A new type of hadrosaur has been identified, from the late Cretaceous period. The bones of Yamatosaurus izanagii, a type of duck-billed dinosaur, were found on an island off the coast of Japan, by an amateur fossil-hunter. Hadrosaurs like izinagii, had hundreds of teeth packed into their mouths, to eat vegetation.

Shooting for the Stars

12-year-old Alena Analeigh, has always wanted to work for NASA. She’s flying towards her goal at warp speed, as she’s already finished high school. Alena will start college in May, with a double major in astronomical/planetary science, and chemistry. She’d love to build rovers at NASA, like the ones on Mars.

Do Antistars Exist?

A gamma-ray map of the sky, shows 14 unknown objects. Astrophysicists think the objects could be stars, made of antimatter. The hypothetical existence of antistars, would help explain where all the antimatter in the universe is hanging out. Then again, the objects could turn out to be ordinary black holes or pulsars. We’ll keep watching!

Poetry and Wishes

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I wish this poem rhymed,
but it doesn’t.

Today is Poem In Your Pocket Day. Carry your favorite poem around, to share with others. Since it’s also World Wish Day, my wish is that you find a better poem, than the one I wrote, ha-ha!

Zip Up and Dance

Today is We Jump The World Day, celebrating Parkour. Also known as free running, it requires impossible-looking jumps and catapulting off walls! It might be easier to celebrate International Dance Day, by dancing all day long! It’s also Zipper Day, so use your jacket zipper to create a funky rhythm.

Introducing the Bagasaurus

A new dinosaur called Bagasaurus, was discovered in a hotel room in Australia. Carly, Sam, and their 3-year-old daughter Florence, made the best of a 2-week quarantine period, by creating the 5-foot-tall dinosaur, out of plastic bags and take-out containers. The family plans to save the head as a souvenir, and recycle the rest.

Pass the Good Deeds Along

Last year, a chain of kindness grew 900 cars long. Someone paid for the order of the car behind them, at a drive-thru. That customer decided to pay it forward, by paying for the next car. People kept the generosity chain going for 3 days! Start your own chain of kindness, for Pay It Forward Day.

Don’t Throw That Away

About 1/3 of the food produced around the world, is wasted every year. Visit grocery stores that sell ugly fruits and vegetables, or even give food away. Community refrigerators and food banks feed people with donated food. Food can be turned into fuel or fertilizer. On Stop Food Waste Day, eat all your leftovers!

Puppy Dog Eyes

Today we’re celebrating, Guide Dogs Day. Guide dogs are dogs that are trained to lead blind and visually impaired humans. They help people around obstacles. Dogs are color blind, and can’t read street signs, so they still need to be assisted by their human. Never pet or distract a guide dog. They’re working!

This is a Job for Superpoet!
