Collecting comic books can pay off, but you have to be patient. An Action Comics from 1938, which introduced a new character named Superman, recently sold at auction, for $3,250,000. The original price was only 10 cents. In the meantime, reading comic books is always fun, or you could create your own comic, that’ll be worth millions.

Washable, wearable Screens

A new fabric developed in China, could turn your jacket, into a touch-screen. The flexible material is powered by solar energy, and can be washed without harming it. You could pull up a map on your sleeve, while riding your bike, or maybe play video games, on your jeans. What would you use it for?

A Gentle Breeze

On April 12th 1934, the strongest gust of wind ever recorded, blew through the Mount Washington Observatory. The blast clocked in at 231 miles-per-hour, and the record is remembered every year on Big Wind Day. The record was broken in 1996, when a typhoon near Australia, created 256 mile-per-hour gusts of wind.

Walk With Wild Hamsters

Today is Hamster Day, dedicated to the adorable little rodents. They can store a whole meal, in pouches inside their cheeks! Some lucky pet hamsters, get to live in Habitrail cages with plastic tubes to explore. It’s also Walk On Your Wild Side Day, so be a little crazy, and stuff your cheeks!

Grilled Licorice Deskfast

Today is Licorice Day. Its distinctive flavor comes from the licorice plant, and can be used in candy or tea. It’s also Deskfast Day, when you eat your breakfast at your desk. Don’t get food on your work! Since it’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day as well, you could eat one for Deskfast!

Who Needs Retirement Benefits?

In 1956, Yasuko Tamaki started working at Sunco Industries, in Japan. She loved her job so much, that she never retired! She’ll be 91 in May, and has earned the new title, of world’s oldest office manager. She still works full-time, and has no plans on quitting. Yasuko loves helping people at work!

More Trees, Less Oil

Saudi Arabia has some of the largest and driest sand deserts in the world. In order to help stop global warming, the country plans to plant 50,000,000,000 trees. Although they’re known for producing oil, they also plan to cut back on fossil fuels, and use 50% green energy by 20 30. It’s a start.

Just a Bit Longer

The Ingenuity helicopter will have to wait a little longer, before taking its first flight on Mars. The drone’s blades will need to spin at 2500 rotations per minute in order to achieve lift-off in the thin Martian atmosphere, but something went wrong during testing. NASA will make sure everything’s perfect, before trying again.

The Waters Are Murky Captain

Today is Cheese Fondue Day. Get a pot of melted cheese, some hunks of bread or vegetables on sticks, and dive right in! It’s also Submarine Day, so pretend your snack-on-a-stick, is sneaking up on the enemy. The US Navy’s first sub was named Alligator. An earlier Revolutionary War submarine, was named Turtle.

A Pet Quartet

Barbershop quartets, are groups that sing in 4-part harmony. Celebrate Barbershop Quartet Day, by singing with your pets, because it’s also Pet Day. Your dog can bark the base line, while kitty-cat meows the tenor. If you recorded your song on an 8-track tape, you’d be celebrating 19 60’s technology, for 8-Track Tape Day. Groovy!
