Happy World Whale Day! Whales are mammals that live in the ocean. They range in size from the 8-foot dwarf sperm whale, to the 98-foot blue whale, the largest creature that ever lived! Whales are endangered. Some species were nearly hunted to extinction. Whale songs can travel thousands of miles through the water!

An Ontario man set a messy world record, by opening beverage cans. Chucky Mady didn’t just pop the tab. He ripped the whole top of the can off, with his teeth! He opened 24 cans in 1 minute, spraying soda everywhere in the process. The hardest part, was not cutting his mouth on the metal.

Rabbit Island is a 91-acre haven for wildlife, in Michigan’s Lake Superior. It can also be a temporary retreat for 3 lucky artists. Although the land is undeveloped, the Rabbit Island Foundation is offering 3-week residencies, for artists who are inspired by nature, and don’t mind roughing it. They’ll even pay you $3200 for supplies.

Do you have a favorite comfortable chair, and fuzzy blanket? Claim them right away, because it’s Comfy Day. Get dressed in your softest well-worn sweatpants, and settle in with a warm drink and a muffin, since it’s also Muffin Day. Do you prefer chocolate chip, banana-nut, or blueberry muffins? I’ll have one of each!

Today is Love Your Pet Day! Make sure you give your companions a little extra attention, whether it’s your dog, cat, tarantula, or pet rock! It’s also Cherry Pie Day. Try baking one from scratch, and make a bonus pie filled with your pet’s favorite food. Don’t get them mixed up! Tuna pie sounds gross.

Today is World Pangolin Day! Pangolins live in Asia and Africa. They are the only mammal with scales. The nocturnal animals can have tongues that are longer than their bodies! They curl into balls for protection, but it doesn’t work against humans. Pangolins are endangered, and are the most smuggled animal in the world.

A hospital in Victoria Australia, got a surprise inspection from a furry visitor. A wallaby hopped through the automatic doors, and briefly explored the waiting area, before leaving. The same hospital was visited by a koala, nicknamed Blinky Bill, in 20 15. Wallaby or koala visitors would be a sure way, to cheer up any patient.

Anika Moritz and her cat Alexis, set a new world record. Alexis performed 26 tricks in 1 minute. The Austrian teenager got Alexis as a kitten, when she was 11-years-old. Anika started teaching her tricks, a few weeks later. Alexis can give high-fives, ring a bell, open boxes, and weave between your legs on command.

If you hate mowing lawns, there’s a great house for you in Massachusetts. It’s built on a boat! It’s not a houseboat, but the 18 hundred-square-foot home sits on a barge. If you love the house, but not the water, you can always float it to a new location, and move it onto dry land.

The next phase of the Mars 20 20 mission began, after a successful arrival on Mars yesterday. The Perseverance sent its first photos, a few minutes after landing. The rover has multiple cameras, to give Earthlings a good view of the Jezero Crater, while it searches the rocks and river remnants, for signs of ancient life.
