Do you own a gorilla suit? I’m sure most of you said “No,” but the “Yesses” are in luck. It’s Gorilla Suit Day! Your hairy suit will keep you warm in the snow. Go sledding and surprise everyone! It’s also Hot Chocolate Day, which both gorillas and non-gorillas will enjoy. Don’t forget the marshmallows!

Spectators Pass the Sniff Test

The Miami Heat basketball team, is eager to get fans back into the arena. In order to keep everyone safe from COVID-19, they’ll get help from some talented dogs. Canines can be trained to sniff out COVID, so spectators will have to get the OK from doggie detectives, before taking their socially-distanced seats.

Goodbye, Mini-Moon

Did you know, that Earth has had a second moon for the last few months? In September 2020, a small object known as 2020-SO dropped into Earth’s orbit. The temporary satellite was labeled a mini-moon, even though it turned out to be part of a 1960’s rocket booster. It will leave Earth’s orbit by March 2021.

Big Celebrations for Little Iceworms

This week in Alaska, it’s the Cordova Iceworm Festival! Iceworms live in glaciers, and function best at temperatures below freezing. They’re only a few centimeters long, and move between the ice crystals. The festival’s mascot however, is 150 feet long! The festival includes learning about iceworms, games, the Miss Iceworm Coronation, dances, a parade, and fireworks.

The Carolina reaper, is the hottest pepper in the world. It’s 200 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper, which is hot enough for most people. Mike Jack, a Canadian spicy food-lover, broke a world record by eating 3 Carolina reapers in under 10 seconds. He also holds a record for eating 97 grams of ghost peppers, in 1 minute.

No visitors Allowed Inside

Arizona firefighter Dan Volcko, was in the hospital after getting COVID-19. Since he was quarantined, he couldn’t have any visitors. Imagine his surprise, when a group of his coworkers appeared at the window! His firefighter friends had pulled a firetruck up to the hospital, and extended the ladder to reach his room.

Naked Mole Rats Talk With Accents

You can often tell what part of a country someone is from, by their accent. A New Yorker speaking English, sounds completely different from an Alabamian. Researchers found, some animals also have different dialects. A naked mole rat’s accent, depends on its colony’s queen. It’s like a secret password, for their colony members.
