Butter Luck Next Time

The 105th Pennsylvania Farm Show, is holding their “Butter Up” contest online this year. Pennsylvania residents can create sculptures using up to 5 pounds of butter, and submit their photos to farmshow.pa.gov. They’ll be judged on the Pennsylvania Farm Show Facebook page. The annual contest usually has sculptures, made with 1000 pounds of butter.

2021’s First Meteor Shower

The Quadrantids meteor shower will be most visible tonight. The meteors are caused by space debris from a metallic asteroid called 2003 EH1. Because of the nearly full moon, the meteors will be harder to see. They’ll peak earlier in the evening, but you can watch them all night long, if you’re dressed warmly enough!

Happy Mew Year! Yes, you heard me right. It’s Happy Mew Year Day For Cats! I guess people weren’t paying enough attention to them yesterday. It’s also Science Fiction Day. On the birthday of one of the greatest science fiction writers, Isaac Asimov, read “I Robot”, and watch Dr Who or Star Trek.

Cold Beauty of Snow Art

British artist Simon Beck, looks forward to snow. That’s what he uses, to create art in Colorado. Wearing snowshoes, he makes tracks in fresh snow, to form massive designs. Some intricate patterns take 6 hours to complete, and require him to walk in circles for miles! Drones give the best view of his amazing artworks.

A Chilly Commitment

Today is Polar Bear Swim Day. Many people raise money for charity, by swimming in ice-cold waters! Burr! It’s also Commitment Day, a movement to lead healthy and active lives. Take a nice long walk with your family, or jog in place while you wait for your brother to get out of the bathroom.
