Happy Hanukkah!

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, begins this evening. The Jewish holiday commemorates an ancient miracle in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. A one-day supply of oil lit a menorah, which is a type of candelabra, for 8 days. Hanukkah is celebrated for 8 days by lighting the menorah to prayers, songs, food, gifts and games.

Go Out and Play!

Many people aren’t getting enough exercise. 1.4 billion adults are at risk for diseases caused by low levels of physical activity. Adults should get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Kids versus adults soccer or basketball is great exercise! Everyone needs to go outside and play, especially since it’s Play Outside Day!

Today is Biscuits and Gravy Day. It is also Monkey Day! It started when artist Casey Sorrow scribbled Monkey Day on his friend’s calendar as a joke. They started celebrating with other Michigan State University artists and it grew in popularity. So today, eat biscuits and gravy like a monkey!
