Dragonfly Will Go to Titan

NASA is planning a trip to Saturn’s largest moon. Titan is like Earth, but colder. It’s minus 300º Fahrenheit, with lakes and rivers made of liquid methane. NASA will send a drone named Dragonfly, to take pictures and measurements. The mission will launch in 2026, and take 8 years to get to Titan, so be patient!

Today’s Paul Bunyan Day, named for the giant North American lumberjack, and Babe, his big blue ox. Legend says Paul Bunyan sawed the legs off his parents’ bed when he was 7 months old, and formed the Great Lakes as watering holes for Babe. It’s also Happy Heart Hugs Day. Who needs a giant hug?

Does your barbecue grill need more power? The Delta Airlines control center in Georgia, has a grill on a jet engine! The grill is actually built using scrap parts from a 757 jet engine. It won’t really blow you away when you light it up, but it’s sure more interesting to look at!

Dapper Dogs and Their Humans

It can be hard for animals to get adopted from animal shelters, but looking especially cute can help. 12 year-old Darius Brown uses his company, Beaux & Paws, to donate bow ties to shelter animals, to help them look their best! He also sells matching bow ties for pets and their humans, so everyone looks snazzy!

Today is Handshake Day. Make up a secret handshake to use with your friends, and another one for your family. Practice a nice firm handshake, to use when you meet new people. Shake your hands in the air to dry them, instead of using paper towels. Just don’t stick your hands in a milkshake!

That New Penguin Acts Fake

The Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland, is excited about its upcoming new display, called BRICKLIVE Ocean. The exhibit features 30 LEGO sculptures, using 1,000,000 bricks! The first model to be set up, was a 3,200 brick Rockhopper penguin. The zoo’s curious penguins checked out their new larger-than-life friend. You can watch them online on the zoo’s Penguin Cam!

Beautiful Little Trucks

If you’re in Japan, don’t be surprised to find a garden rolling down the street. Small vehicles called Kei trucks, are decorated with elaborate landscaping, to compete in the annual Kei Truck Garden Contest. Some even have benches or fountains! If you can’t visit a beautiful garden, maybe a garden will visit you instead!
