New Use for Glass

Researchers in Australia have found a new use for non-recyclable glass. Instead of going to a landfill, glass is ground down and mixed into polymer concrete, a strong material used in high traffic areas like gas stations. The concrete will substitute ground-up glass, for sand that needs to be mined and washed.

Ice Age Wolf Thaws Out

40,000 years ago in Siberia, a giant wolf died. The massive wolf’s head, was recently discovered in incredibly well-preserved condition. Its skin and brain tissue, teeth, and fur are all intact, giving scientists an incredible opportunity to compare the Ice Age wolf with wolves living on Earth today.

Hacker Plan Backfires

When computer hackers stole unreleased songs from the band Radiohead, they demanded $150,000 in ransom money. Radiohead was not giving in to that nonsense. Instead, they published the music to their Bandcamp page for everyone to access, and are donating all proceeds to the environmental group, Extinction Rebellion. Take that, hackers!

A DJ in Florida is spinning more than records. He’s going around and around and around and around on a Ferris wheel! Jake “Paco” Navarro, is attempting to set a world record, by riding the Ferris wheel for 53 hours straight. Don’t worry, he gets a 5-minute bathroom break every hour!

Spock Was Here

NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, has been sending back images from the planet Mars. One photo captured an unusual pattern in the sand dunes. It looks like the Starfleet logo from Star Trek! The shape is actually a dune cast, caused by lava and wind. It’s definitely not a sign left by fictional TV characters.
