A man in North Carolina should have an abundance of luck. Fred Reissman collected 228 four-leaf clovers in under 2 hours, setting a world record for most found in an 8 hour period. Last year, 10 year-old Katie Borka found 166 four-leaf clovers in 1 hour, in her own back yard in Virginia! Have you ever found a four-leaf clover?

Become a Martian Seismologist

NASA’s InSight lander, arrived on Mars in November. Its mission is to measure Mars’s temperatures, rotation, and seismic activity. InSight recently recorded its first evidence of a Marsquake! Scientists believe the tremors occurred because the planet’s interior is shrinking as it cools, causing cracks in the outer crust. Martian seismology is an official field!

Humanity has invented many sports, like basketball and hockey. The AKQA agency decided to let artificial intelligence create a game. Their AI invented Speedgate. 6-player teams score, by getting the ball through posts, similar to croquet. You can’t move with the ball; you have to pass it from below the waist. Sounds like fun!

Guide Dogs Lead the Way

Today is International Guide Dogs Day. Guide dogs are dogs that are trained to lead blind and visually impaired humans. They help people around obstacles. Dogs are color blind, and can’t read street signs, so they still need to be assisted by their human. Never pet or distract a guide dog. They’re working!

Moo-ve Along, Cows

In California, the Escondido Police responded to a call, about suspicious noises outside of a residence. Instead of finding an intruder trying to break in, they found 2 cows munching on plants. They called the Humane Society, to move the loose cows to a safe place, until the owners could be located.

Sprites Spotted Over Oklahoma

Last week, photographer Paul Smith took pictures of sprites in Oklahoma. No, not the mythological fairy-like creatures. Sprites are large electrical discharges in the sky. They look like pinkish-red columns, or jellyfish-shaped flashes of light, far above thunderstorms. You might spot a sprite if you watch a distant storm, and look above the clouds.
