Pancakes and Perennials

The Girl Scouts were started in 1912. It’s Girl Scout Day, so buy some of their cookies! Then go to IHOP, to celebrate National Pancake Day, with free pancakes! It’s also Plant A Flower Day. Plant some pretty perennials, which are flowers that return every year. If it’s still too cold, start some seeds inside.

Proud to be an Old Lady

The world’s oldest living person was verified by Guinness on Saturday. Kane Tanaka, a Japanese woman, is 116 years and 68 days old! She celebrated with a ceremony and belated birthday cake. When asked which part of her life she’d enjoyed most, she answered, “This right now.” She waited a long time for that record!

Do White Holes Exist?

Black holes occur in the universe, when a star dies and its core collapses. They’re so dense, that nothing nearby can escape. Astrophysicists wonder if white holes also exist, where nothing can enter. Instead of sucking everything in, it would spew everything out. Maybe a white hole occurs when a black hole dies!

Metallica Headed Down Under

13 year-old William Bush, is a huge Metallica fan. But he lives in New Zealand, and the band hasn’t toured there in 8 years! William started a petition, and convinced them to play in Auckland in October. New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, is also a fan, and surprised William with 2 free tickets to thank him!

Hot Sauce Survival

Last week, Jeremy Taylor and his dog Ally, were found in Oregon’s Deschutes National Forest. Their car had been stuck in the snow for 5 days, with nothing to eat but 3 packets of Taco Bell hot sauce.  Jeremy exclaimed, “Taco Bell fire sauce saves lives!” Taco Bell is giving him free food for a year!
