Next month in Mount Dora Florida, you can watch an unusual parade. It will take place both on land, and in the water! The parade will feature Amphicars, amphibious cars from the 19-60’s. Vintage Amphicar owners meet for the weekend. Their schedule includes, meet for breakfast, then drive our cars into the lake.

The Kuznetsk Basin in Russia, is one of the biggest coal mining areas in the world. It’s also the only place with black snow. Some Siberian cities have been blanketed in snow, that picked up coal dust from the atmosphere. Hopefully, seeing the coal pollution so clearly, will inspire new environmental regulations!

Australia is working hard, to install renewable power to the whole country. They’re building new solar and wind power stations, to replace gas and coal power. They also plan to plant 1,000,000,000 trees in the next 30 years! Australia could have 100% renewable electricity by 2032, and its trees would remove 18 million tons of greenhouse gas per year!

Some cities are full of feral cats. Hong Kong has feral cows! About 1,100 wild cows peacefully roam the streets, and usually cause no problems. But this month, 4 cows in Mui Wo waltzed into a grocery store, and started eating all the fruits and vegetables! I giess they thought it was an all-you-can-eat buffet!

Today is International Tug-of-War Day. It’s an ancient game of strength that used to be an Olympic sport, where 2 teams pull on a rope in opposite directions. The Vikings used to play tug-of-war over a fire pit! Give the winner a box of Thin Mints, because it’s also Chocolate Mint Day! Yum!

Last week in Florida, a flashing light streaked through the sky, ending in a huge flare. It was a large meteor burning up in the atmosphere, and exploding over the ocean! Experts say it was probably a foot in diameter, and that it exploded with a force equal to 100 tons of TNT.

A Jet Blue Airways flight from Puerto Rico to Florida, picked up one extra passenger Friday night. A baby boy was born during the 3 hour trip! Coincidentally, the name of the plane is “Born To Be Blue,” but Jet Blue will be re-naming it after its youngest customer ever, with mom’s permission!
