The city of Portsmouth Ohio, likes to make their annual Winterfest memorable. In previous years, they’ve set world records for most people Christmas caroling and most people potting plants. This year, 1,482 people gathered to wrap presents simultaneously, and set another world record. I wonder if they need any help in un wrapping the presents!

After 4 months of traveling, 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, is home in Sweden. The climate activist sailed across the Atlantic to speak at the United Nations, was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, and has inspired millions of people around the world, to fight against global warming. She’ll continue her strikes after a holiday break!

The next time you’re in Iceland, try a futuristic sleeping experience. The Galaxy Pod Hostel lets you sleep in a space pod! Each bed has a privacy screen, its own lights, and some even have TVs. You can pretend you’re traveling through space, and wake up after landing on a strange planet called Earth!

Today is Wright Brothers Day. Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first flight in a mechanically propelled airplane, near Kitty Hawk North Carolina, in 1903. That flight only lasted 12 seconds, and went 120 feet. The wingspan of a 747 is longer than that! It’s also Maple Syrup Day. Boiled tree sap sure does taste delicious!

A dairy farm in New Jersey is looking more festive, after its residents put on their Christmas sweaters. Carol, Holly, Mary, Noelle, and Mariah Dairy were the lucky cows that got to wear the giant sweaters! The Jersey cows want to wish everyone a Dairy Christmas!

Animals sometimes need human help, in unusual situations. A horse’s hoof got caught, in a road barrier in Britain. In California, a puppy got her head trapped in a wheel rim, while a cat in North Carolina had its head stuck in a pasta can. They were all rescued by wonderful firefighters!

NASA’s Juno space probe, has been sending back some amazing images of Jupiter. A massive storm the size of Texas, is swirling around the planet’s South Pole. It joins 5 other cyclones, forming a hexagon around one central cyclone. The hexagonal area of storms is bigger than the Earth!

Nikki Spil and Sjoerd Laarhoven were tired of seeing polluted water on their favorite Dutch beach. They decided to plant seaweed crops, to help clean the water. The Sea Farm Ijmond’s seaweed harvest, is then used to create a material used in 3D-printers. After cleaning the water, seaweed replaces plastic! That’s one useful plant!
