Hulk Fly Through Sky

A glowing green comet, nicknamed the Incredible Hulk, may be visible in the sky tonight for those in the Northern Hemisphere. The cloud of dust surrounding the comet, is twice as big as Jupiter, and gets its color from cyanide and carbon molecules. The Southern Hemisphere will get to see it in mid-August.

These Dogs Rule the Waves

In Pacifica California, the World Dog Surfing Championships took place. Skyler the Surfdog took home the Shredder of the Year award, while Gidget, Giselle, Derby, Teddy, Abbie Girl, Beans, and Rusty were other top dogs in their categories. There were also Top Ball-Fetch-in-Water, and Dog Beach Fashion competitions. What a fun day for dogs!

Hottest Rain in History

It’s rare for rain to fall when the temperature is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. But a new record was set for the hottest temperature measured while rain was falling. In Imperial California, it rained for 4 hours while it was 119 degrees! Most of the rain evaporated, so the precipitation barely registered on the rain gauge.

The Baboons Were Innocent

During a recent storm in Arizona, the power went out at a baseball game. Due to an autocorrect on Twitter, it sounded spectacular. The tweet said, “a baboon went through town and overloaded the grid, knocking some lights out.” It was supposed to say monsoon! The zoo’s baboons denied any wrongdoing.

Mysterious Waves of Ganymede

Scientists are faced with a mystery surrounding Ganymede, one of the planet Jupiter’s many moons. They found that the electromagnetic waves around Ganymede, are a million times stronger than around Jupiter. Although they can’t explain why the waves are so intense, it’s helpful to plan future missions, knowing the damaging waves exist.

A man in Michigan has started a version of Uber, the ride service program. He calls it Amish Uber, and he uses a horse and buggy! Timothy Hochstedler will give you a lift, but you can’t use an app to reach him. You just have to flag him down when you see him!

Giant Sand Castle in NYC

There’s a new castle in New York City, and it’s made out of sand! The sand castle, created by sculptor Ted Siebert, stands 16 feet high. It’s part of the Rockefeller Center’s “Sand and Surf” installation in the Channel Gardens. You can visit it until September 7th. I wonder who gets to knock it down!
