Police departments occasionally let people pay their parking tickets, by making donations to help the community. There have been requests for pet food, school supplies, and toys. The Bay Village Police Department in Ohio, is asking for food donations instead of parking fines. They’ll accept donations, even if you didn’t get a ticket!

Today is Eat A Cranberry Day. They’re quite tart, so many recipes add lots of sugar, but raw cranberries are super-nutritious! It’s also Cashew Day. These nuts are seeds formed on the bottom of cashew apples. Look up a picture of a cashew tree! Then celebrate Espresso Day, by sampling some strong coffee.

The Jolly Green Giant really loves green beans. The vegetable company cooked the biggest green bean casserole in the world! They combined 1069 cans of green beans, 485 cans of mushroom soup, 65 quarts of milk, and 95 pounds of french-fried onions, to make a 1009 pound casserole. Meals on Wheels will serve it to 3000 seniors in New York.

The Daffodil Hotel and Spa, in Grasmere England, is hiring a team of tasters. The job would require someone to stay at the hotel overnight, and enjoy tea and snacks. If you could handle a tough job tasting festive cookies and pies, you can apply for the position on their website!

A team of scientists has developed an artificial intelligence system, that can predict epileptic seizures. If people suffering from epilepsy knew when they were about to have a seizure, they could alert someone to help them, and take medication to try and prevent it. The researchers are still working on creating a wearable device.

8-year-old Jessie Stephenson loves to draw with felt-tip markers, but she was upset when she found out that Crayola’s recycling program is only for the United States. She wrote a petition, and has gathered nearly 70,000 signatures, to ask Crayola to start recycling pens in the UK also. She won’t give up until they agree!

Visitors to the Nanchang Flight Convention in China, saw ghost planes at the closing ceremony. 800 drones flew in amazing patterns, so that their lights formed shapes like a propeller plane, a fighter jet, a helicopter, and an airliner. They hovered over the water, reflecting both beautiful lights, and amazing drone-operating skills!

The Unicorn meteor shower could produce a spectacular show in the sky Thursday night. The Alpha Monocerotid meteor shower appears to come from the constellation Monoceros, which is the Greek word for unicorn. The shooting stars will last less than an hour, starting around 11:45 pm Eastern Time, so don’t miss the outburst!
