Okapi Born in Denver

Kalispell and Sekele are proud parents of Forest, a baby okapi born in the Denver Zoo! The okapi is the only relative to the giraffe. They have long necks, zebra-striped legs, reddish bodies, and prehensile tongues. The endangered species lives in the Ituri Forest of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mexico Protects the Ocean

The president of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, declared Revillagigedo Archipelago a National Park. At 57,000 square miles, it is the largest ocean reserve in North America and is home to many species of sharks, rays, endangered sea turtles, and fish. The area is now protected from fishing, oil drilling and other development.
