Macadamia trees are evergreens native to Australia, that produce nuts. The shells are so hard to open, that the only Australian animals who can get into them are cockatoos! Luckily, humans can open them with tools, because they’re delicious! Macadamia nuts are poisonous to dogs, so celebrate Macadamia Nut Day with your human friends.

Scientists in China are trying to make tooth decay a thing of the past. They’ve developed a gel, that can make tooth enamel repair itself! It can repair decayed areas on teeth, and grow a protective layer, so cavities never form. It’s still in testing though, so keep brushing and flossing your teeth!

Crowdfunding Wilderness Protection

Residents of Canada’s British Columbia were so determined to protect the surrounding wilderness, that they raised money to buy it themselves. BC Parks Foundation organized a crowdfunding campaign, which raised $3,000,000. They’ll buy 2000 acres of the Princess Louisa Inlet to convert into a Provincial Park, and protect the pristine land from logging and development forever!

Today is Skyscraper Day! What’s the tallest building in your city? The tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It’s 2,717 feet tall, which is over half-a-mile! Have you heard of plyscrapers? They’re made from wood! Strong cross-laminated timber, or CLT, is produced in Riddle Oregon, by gluing wood together. Neat!
