Planting Trees From the Air

Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles. The remotely controlled aircraft can be used to have fun, take pictures, go into combat, or even plant trees! BioCarbon Engineering has been using flying robots to plant millions of acres of trees. The drones fire seed pods into the ground. 2 people and 10 drones, could plant 400,000 trees per day!

Let’s learn a bit about dolphins, for Dolphin Day! Dolphins are mammals. Even though they spend their life in water, they need to breathe air. They are very intelligent, have excellent eyesight and hearing, and can make a wide range of sounds. There are 40 different species of dolphin. The Amazon River dolphin is pink!

Dealing With Food Waste

The world wastes a shocking 1.3 billion tonnes of food every year, much of it going into landfills. South Korea has a program, that recycles 95% of the country’s food waste! Food is collected in automated bins, which is then turned into fertilizer, biofuel, or animal feed. Composting at home also keeps food out of landfills!

Peep Dragon is Pretty Sweet

The PEEPshow is an event in Westminster Maryland, where everything’s about marshmallow Peeps. One of the most impressive works of art, is a giant dragon, by artist Vivian Davis. The dragon is constructed from 5000 marshmallow chicks, and is 8 1/2 feet tall, with a 7 foot wingspan! If it breathed fire, it could toast itself!

Do You Carry Camel Chow?

Last month, an African watusi steer visited a Petco, who allows any pet on a leash in the store. Not to be outdone, PetSmart allowed Jeffrey, an Arabian camel, to tour a store in Muskegon Michigan. Camels are not on the list of officially allowed animals, but Jeffrey was well-behaved, and everyone enjoyed him!
