Cosmic Trio of Events

The Spring, or Vernal, Equinox is today, when day and night last the same amount of time. Tonight brings a full moon, which hasn’t happened on the Spring Equinox since 2000, and won’t repeat until 2030! The March full moon, known as the Worm Moon, will pass at its closest to Earth, making it a Super-Worm-moon!

Frozen Freebies

Spring brings warmer weather, and that’s good business for places that sell frozen treats. Dairy Queen will give everyone a free ice cream cone today, and Rita’s will give you a free Italian Ice! Free Cone Day at Ben and Jerry’s, comes in April, and Haagen-Daaz has one in May. Keep the free-eats coming!

New Baby Giraffe Born

The Animal Adventure Park in New York, welcomed a new baby over the weekend. April the giraffe, had a baby boy! Giraffes are pregnant for 15 months, and a calf averages 6 feet tall at birth. Within 45 minutes, April’s calf was already standing up, so he could start nursing. He was a hungry baby!

Cow Goes to Chik-fil-A

A cow in Indiana was on the loose, disrupting traffic after escaping a transport trailer. Police chased him for an hour, before recapturing him in the parking lot of Chik-fil-A. He must have seen the restaurant’s billboards, featuring cows telling people to “Eat mor chikin!” Maybe he was looking for a job!

Ha Ha Ha!

Today is Let’s Laugh Day. Laughter is contagious. Sometimes just watching somebody laugh uncontrollably, will make you laugh also, and before you know it, everybody is cracking up! Then everyone feels better, and has a smile on their faces. A laughing baby is especially hard to resist. L-O-L for real today!

Who Caught Who?

Sometimes chasing things can get you in trouble. Bella, a toy dachshund, was chasing a squirrel in the attic. Instead of catching the squirrel, the dog was the one who got caught! Bella fell into an opening, and got trapped inside a wall. Firefighters had to cut a hole through it, to rescue her!

Put It in the Book Drop and Run

A library in British Columbia just received a missing book. Wilderness Living, by Brent Berglund, was checked out of the Vancouver Island Library, 42 years ago! The library’s maximum late fee is $7.50, which is fortunate. Otherwise, the overdue fines would have been $3442! Maybe whoever checked it out, was living in the wilderness for 42 years!
