As an adult, he decided to create a blimp-plane hybrid, and the Plimp was born! It will take off like a helicopter, have a helium-filled body, and carry up to 10 people.

Jackie Gempler and Evelyn Weier have a fun and thrifty tradition. The friends have been exchanging the same Christmas cards for 50 years! They started when they were in their 20’s, and the cards are looking a little beat up after half a century, but they have no plans to buy new cards!

It doesn’t usually snow in Sacramento California, so people were surprised to see a large snowman outside the Old Soul Coffee shop! Carissa, an employee, had the snow brought from Lake Tahoe. The snowman had pennies for a mouth, a purple hat, and a slightly misshapen, dirty body, but he was a big hit!

A man in Martinsburg West Virginia inspired a successful toy drive, by decorating his beard! Michael Withrow announced that if 400 toys were donated, he would glitter his beard. For 600 toys, he’d glitter his eyebrows as well! The final tally was 724 toys for kids in need, and one magnificent, sparkly beard!

If you were at Cocoa Beach in Florida on Monday, you might have seen a dazzling sight. 600 Santas jumped in the water to surf! The surfers dressed in Santa suits were raising money for the charity, Grind for Life, as well as for the Florida Surf Museum. What a cool Christmas Eve event!

The Dubai Mall is the world,s largest shopping center, so it’s only fitting that it should also be decorated with the world’s largest Christmas bauble ornament. The gigantic 2,425 pound ornament is over 15 feet in diameter, and hangs from the ceiling. There’s no Christmas tree big enough to hold it!

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living thing on Earth. Sections of the coral reef off the coast of Australia, have been dying because of rising ocean temperatures. An underwater drone, called the LarvalBot, just delivered 100,000 heat-resistant coral larvae, to damaged areas of the reef! New coral will help make the reef healthy again!

December 26th, St. Stephen’s Day, is known as Boxing Day in many countries. It’s named for the Christmas box some employers give to their employees, or the donation box outside churches. In Ireland, it’s also the Day of the Wren. Straw-costumed Wrenboys parade through town, singing and dancing, and collecting money for charity.
