A parrot at a New Zealand zoo, must have thought her flying lesson was not advanced enough. The blue and gold macaw took off during the lesson, and went to a dog park, a mile away! She was perched in a tree, squawking away, and refused to come down until the next morning.

The Hershey chocolate factory in Hershey Pennsylvania, produces more than 70 million Hershey Kisses a day. Recently, some people have complained that many points on the iconic shape, first created in 19-oh-7, were broken. While Hershey encourages everyone to celebrate each other’s differences, they may send coupons to customers who are unhappy.

A centuries-old legend in Peru, talks about a boiling hot river in the Amazon. When geoscientist Andreas Ruzo learned it actually exists, he wanted to study how it was possible. The 82 foot-wide river is 187 degrees Fahrenheit for nearly 4 miles, and it’s nowhere near a volcano! Now Andreas works to protect the unique river.

For the last 3 years, Tyler has been making Hero Bags, filled with clothes, toothbrushes, and other necessities, for veterans in Maryland. He has also raised over $17,000 to help show his appreciation for their service to the United States.

In 1997, a character in the TV show Seinfeld, made up a holiday called Festivus, because he thought Christmas was too commercialized. Many real people now celebrate Festivus. They have the Airing of Grievances during dinner, perform Feats of Strength by wrestling, and perform a Festivus Miracle, like getting groceries into the house without tripping.

A doctor in Los Angeles California, has been seeing a new injury in his patients. They’re getting selfie wrist! Some people take so many pictures of themselves, that they get pain in their wrist and tingling in their fingers. He has to instruct his patients on how to hold their phones to prevent injuries!

The Oakland Airport in California had an unlikely trespasser last week. A young sea lion was found wandering the grounds! Officials coaxed him back to the bay, but he returned a little later. The Marine Mammal Center will make sure the sea lion, nicknamed Cruizin, is healthy. Maybe he’s planning a trip to Hawaii!

The European Space Agency’s Mars Express orbiter, has taken an amazing picture of crater filled with ice. The Korolev crater is over 1 mile deep and 37 miles wide, and is filled nearly to the brim with year-round water ice! The Mars Express has been in orbit around Mars, and sending back images, for 15 years!
