Designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, are taking shoes to the next level. Their thigh-high boots, called the Skin Heel, are made to look like real skin. They have uneven skin tones, hair, moles, and toes molded onto them. They’ve only made one pair, which costs $10,000.

Every night until November 11th, the Tower of London is lighting 10,000 torches around the tower’s moat. The art display, called “Deepening Shadow: The Tower Remembers,” commemorates the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. The flames will be lit one by one, gradually making a powerful circle of light in the darkness.

A small flightless bird called the Inaccessible Island rail, dwells only on Inaccessible Island, between South America and Africa. Scientists first thought the bird walked there, on stretches of land that are now covered by water. New DNA analysis shows, they flew to the island 1.5 million years ago, then lost the ability to fly.

An artist is building a monument, commemorating the end of the Colombian guerrilla war. Colombian sculptor Doris Salcedo, is using metal from rebel guns to create it. Machine guns, rifles and pistols will be melted down to make tiles, which will become the floor of a new art museum.
