Baby Giraffe Needs a Name

The Como Park Zoo & Conservatory in Minnesota needs your help, to name their new baby giraffe. The calf’s parents are named Daisy and Skeeter, and they can’t decide whether to name their daughter Lily, Tulip, or Penelope. If you want to help, you’ll have to visit the nearly 6-foot tall baby today, and vote!

Black Holes and Cosmic Nets

Black holes are regions of space where gravity is so strong, not even light can escape. Astronomers have discovered that the magnetic field around a black hole can help feed it, by trapping material like a giant cosmic net. Now they’ll study the effect the fields might have on galactic nuclei and their surroundings.

The Awesome Sloth
