InSight Has Safely Landed

On Monday, NASA’s InSight successfully landed on Mars after a 300 million-mile trip from Earth. InSight stands for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy, and Heat Transport. The little robot has a 2 Earth-year mission, to learn how the Earth was formed. That will be only one Martian year and 40 Martian days, or sols.

Serious About Soccer Rules

The English Football Association is serious about their soccer rules. After a referee forgot his coin in the locker room, he couldn’t decide who would kick-off with a coin toss. Instead, he asked the captains to play rock-paper-scissors before the Women’s Super League match. That earned the referee a 3-week suspension!

New Park Helps Protect Animals

In Africa, the Republic of Congo has created a new national park. The Ogooué-Leketi National Park is home to elephants, buffalos, orangutans, and mandrills. The 860,000 acre park will help protect those vulnerable species, just as a nearby national park helped to save the mountain gorilla. The plants and animals will be safe there!
