A new look at the famous cave paintings at Lascaux, created more than 15,000 years ago, may be signs of humans doing astronomy. Researchers believe the figures in the paintings symbolize constellations, and might represent an important celestial event, like the Taurid meteor showers. Other cave paintings around the world, also suggest prehistoric star-gazing.

On Monday, NASA’s InSight successfully landed on Mars after a 300 million-mile trip from Earth. InSight stands for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy, and Heat Transport. The little robot has a 2 Earth-year mission, to learn how the Earth was formed. That will be only one Martian year and 40 Martian days, or sols.

In Northeastern Brazil, researchers have discovered a city that may be 4000 years old, and the size of Great Britain. It’s remained hidden because it’s a termite city. The system of 200 million termite mounds, some up to 10 feet high, are connected by tunnels. The amount of soil excavated, is like 4000 Egyptian Pyramids!

Today is National French Toast Day. Some people call them bread-eggs, because you make them by soaking slices of bread in a milk and egg mixture, before cooking them on a skillet. You can add cinnamon and vanilla, and sprinkle with powdered sugar when they’re done, or pick your own toppings!

The English Football Association is serious about their soccer rules. After a referee forgot his coin in the locker room, he couldn’t decide who would kick-off with a coin toss. Instead, he asked the captains to play rock-paper-scissors before the Women’s Super League match. That earned the referee a 3-week suspension!

In Africa, the Republic of Congo has created a new national park. The Ogooué-Leketi National Park is home to elephants, buffalos, orangutans, and mandrills. The 860,000 acre park will help protect those vulnerable species, just as a nearby national park helped to save the mountain gorilla. The plants and animals will be safe there!

When Hunter Shamatt lost his wallet on a flight, he thought he’d lost it for good. He was happily surprised however, when his wallet showed up in the mail, still holding his paycheck, ID, debit card, and cash. Todd Brown had even put some extra money in there, to help Hunter celebrate it’s return!
