A newly discovered dinosaur has been named Ledumahadi mafube, which means “giant thunderclap at dawn.” The first bones were discovered in South Africa in 1990, and it’s taken 28 years to find the rest! This sauropod was an early Jurassic cousin of the brontosaurus. It was a huge herbivore that had grasping hands to grab limbs.

An injured box turtle at the Maryland Zoo has a cool way to get around. His shell was fractured, and it needed to be stabilized after surgery so that it could heal. So the veterinarians gave him a LEGO wheelchair! Once his shell is fused back together, he’ll be released into the wild again.

You might think that a place with lots of feral cats, would not have a problem with rats. But a study of wild cats in New York City, found that they rarely hunted rats. They preferred hunting defenseless prey, like birds, lizards, or cockroaches. Their favorite thing to hunt was food scraps!

The Watkins Company celebrated its 150th birthday in a big way. The makers of food flavoring also made a record-breaking 260-layer cake! It used 900 eggs, 480 pounds of sugar, 150 pounds of flour, and 7 pounds of vanilla extract. Weighing more than half a ton, the cake stood over 6 feet tall!

The Milwaukee County Zoo in Wisconsin, introduced Dr. Lily Parkinson to the public. Lily is a baby red panda, born June 6th. Across the ocean, another red panda cub ventured out for the first time at Flamingo Land, a North Yorkshire zoo in the UK. I wonder if he’ll be a doctor also!

Kyle Mulinder and Taiyo Masuda were kayaking with friends in New Zealand last weekend. Suddenly, a New Zealand fur seal swam up to Kyle and smacked him in the face with an octopus! Luckily for everyone, Taiyo caught the bizarre moment on camera, and posted it to Instagram, so we can all enjoy it!
