Solar panels and wind turbines create rougher and darker land surfaces. In theory, it could turn the expanding Sahara, green!

Researchers created an app called, “Spider in da House,” where participants could add data about the times and locations of spiders seen in their homes. After collecting nearly 10,000 records, they found that most wandering spiders are males looking for mates, and seen in the evening. Females mostly hang out in their webs.

It must be harder to stack tortillas than you’d think. Mark Valenzuela set a new world record for the tallest stack of tortillas, at 75 centimeters. It took him over 3 hours, to build up to nearly 30 inches, before his tortilla tower toppled. The Indiana professor says, “It’s okay to try and do strange things.”

A recent study showed that sometimes, reassurance from a doctor that you’ll feel better soon, is enough to make you feel better soon! Patients who received encouraging words from their doctor recovered more quickly, than those who were given no explanation about their recovery. Patients need a dose of positivity with their prescriptions!

Turkey has a new incentive for recycling plastic. In Istanbul, you can feed plastic into machines called Smart Mobile Waste Transfer Centers. In exchange, it gives you credit for free rides, on the city’s public transit cards. Istanbul hopes to have 100 machines soon, to help reduce the 17,000 tons of garbage produced every day.

The Siberian unicorn was a mammal that resembled a shaggy rhinoceros. It stood over 6 feet tall, was over 14 feet long, and had one long horn on its head. For decades, it was believed they went extinct 350,000 years ago, until a skull was found in Kazakhstan. In fact, they were still around only 29,000 years ago!
